The fourth day of the Asian Weightlifting Championship
The Asian Weightlifting Championship continues in Astana. Today is the fourth day of the competition. Kazakhstan had two representatives in the weight category up to 75 kg: participant of the last Olympic Games in London Anna Nurmukhambetova and World Youth champion Anastasia Schwabauer.
Anna Nurmukhambetova took 114 kilograms in the first exercise and took first place. Anastasia Schwabauer, who has not so much experience of performing at the adult level, for obvious reasons, performed less successfully. In the snatch, she lifted 98 kilograms and rounded out the top five. In the second exercise, the Kazakhstani weightlifter lifted 218 kg and took fifth place. Anna Nurmukhambetova took 249 kg in the clean and jerk and became the Asian champion by a wide margin. Wang Yaa-Zhen from Taipei took second place, and Lin Ting Zing, an athlete from China, closed the top three.
In the 94 kg weight category, Kazakhstan was represented by Alexander Zaichikov, a participant in the last Olympic Games. In the first exercise, he used all three attempts in a brilliant style, gaining 175 kilograms, took first place. In the second, the Kazakhstani also acted successfully. In the sum of two exercises, he lifted 385 kilograms and won gold at the Asian Championship. The second place went to the athlete from China, Jean Sheng Gu. The third place was taken by the Iranian athlete Baheri Yasin.
