UCI President Brian Cookson visited the Saryarka cycling track
On May 28, 2014, UCI President Brian Cookson visited the Republican cycling track "Saryarka". His arrival is timed to coincide with the Asian Cycling Championships taking place in Kazakhstan.
At a press conference, Brian Cookson spoke about the future plans of the international cycling union: “I have just taken up my duties and the first thing I will do is restore the good name and reputation of the international cycling union, which was spoiled by the scandal with Lance Edward Armstrong. My further task is to ensure conditions for all people involved in our industry to follow the highest moral and ethical principles. I want to further develop cycling throughout the world, including the continent of Asia. I believe that one of our main goals is to further develop women's cycling. We need as many as possible to involve women in cycling and provide them with all the necessary conditions. It is worth creating some kind of infrastructural conditions for mountain biking, road racing, track cycling and BMX. And I would also like to strengthen the position of cycling in the Olympic movement. I have a set of tasks for the next few months that need to be addressed and I will be very busy with that.”
This visit shows that the International Cycling Union pays great attention to the Asian Championships taking place in Kazakhstan and the conditions for its holding.
Brian Cookson also expressed his admiration for our country.
